£3 million reduction in school uniform grants is attack on children and families - Coyle

Sinn Féin Enniskillen Councillor, Debbie Coyle, has called a proposed £3 million reduction for school uniform grants an attack on children and families.

Councillor Coyle said:

"Once again we are witnessing an attack on children and families by the Tories. Families in deprived communities, like many across the north, are already bearing the brunt of previous Tory cuts and are now facing a further cut.

"The attacks are relentless.

"Over a billion pounds has been cut from the North's block grant since the Tories came in to power.

"The DUP in their support for Theresa May's Tory government has handed them a blank cheque for their cuts and a Tory Brexit.

"I have been speaking to parents in Enniskillen who are worried about sending their children back to school in the new term without the full uniform.

"This is an extra burden that already struggling parents do not need.

"Myself and my party colleagues will be seeking urgent meetings with both the Education Authority and the Department and will be calling on them to reverse this cut immediately." - Ends/Críoch
