Lynch welcomes major works on Lisnaskea to Derrylin Road
Published: 30 September, 2016
Fermanagh South Tyrone MLA, Seán Lynch, has welcomed the progress of significant works on the Lisnaskea to Derrylin road to mitigate against flooding.
Speaking as his party colleague, Infrastructure Minister Chris Hazzard, visited the site, Mr Lynch said:
"These major works will include extensive piling to help deal with the problems on this road which has had to close several times in recent years due to flooding.
"I welcome the Minister here today to view these plans for himself.
"To accommodate the works a temporary road will be created which will carry light vehicles and cars. It is anticipated that these works will commence in early October.
"The works will some disruption for heavy goods vehicles for approximately 8 weeks but Transport NI have been in contact with local businesses and haulage firms who will be affected so that they can prepare in advance.
"I would ask local people to have patience whilst the works are taking place. In this area, we have all had to contend with huge detours as a result of flooding as recently as last winter. This solution will undoubtedly benefit local people and businesses. - Críoch/End
