Published: 10 March, 2016
Seán Lynch MLA has welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Education for post-primary provision in the east of the county.
Mr Lynch was speaking from the assembly following the announcement by party colleague, John O'Dowd, when he said:
"The Minister's decision to effectively amalgamate St Eugene's College, Roslea, and St Comhghall's College, Lisnaskea, will ensure a high quality and secure post-primary presence in the east of the county.
"This decision is in the best educational interests of our all of our young people in this area, as they enter a changing and dynamic workforce.
"It is important that we have a quality school for 11-19 year olds that is easily accessible to our young people. The pupils, of course, have been at the centre of making this decision.
"I, along with my party colleagues, will continue to work on behalf of the community here into the new assembly mandate to ensure that proposed extension works to St Comhghall's College, Lisnaskea, to provide the new amalgamated school, is progressed quickly and efficiently to facilitate the expanding intake of students in the next academic year as a result of the Minister's decision.
"I would like to pay tribute to everybody connected with these schools who I have been liaising with over these past years. Their commitment to their respective schools has been heartening and I have no doubt that they will bring this with them in support of the new school." - Ends/Críoch
