Councillor John Feely has welcomed the announcement by the Regional Development Minister to publish the formal Notice of Intention to Proceed and the making of the Direction Order for a £6 million road realignment scheme at Cornamnuck on the A32 Omagh to Enniskillen route.

Councillor Feely said:

"This is good news for the people of Fermanagh and Tyrone for whom this road is a link to vital services.

"It will be welcome news for the emergency services and other vehicles travelling up and down the road to the South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen.

"These improvements which, I would hope, will result in a safer and more efficient road will also be good news for people who use the road daily to travel to and from work and shopping.

"Whilst I welcome these works, and I hope to see them proceed as soon as possible; I and my party colleagues will continue to lobby for further road improvements in Fermanagh where the condition of some of our major roads is deplorable." - Ends/Crioch
