Sinn Féin MLA, Seán Lynch, has facilitated a multi-agency meeting in order to explore solutions to road safety issues around St Mary's Primary School in Maguiresbridge.

Following the meeting on Friday between representatives of the PSNI, PCSP, Transport NI, the school principal and concerned parents, Mr Lynch said:

"This was a very worthwhile and positive meeting which brought together all of the agencies to discuss possible solutions with parents of children at the school.

"A number of possible solutions were discussed and Transport NI have suggested that, in the short term, the lay-by area on the main Lisnaskea Road would be properly lined with clear markings for car parking.

"Long-term solutions which might include development of the Nutfield Road entrance to the school are under consideration.

"The main concern here is the safety of children outside the school and the danger that this busy road poses.

"I am glad that I was able to bring these parties together to work towards solutions to the issue and I will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that a viable and acceptable solution is found.

"In the meantime, I would call on all road users in the vicinity of St Mary's Primary school to observe the speed limit and maintain awareness when passing the school, particularly at drop off and pick up times."
