Lynch welcomes update on proposed Enniskillen Library from DCAL Minister
Published: 6 February, 2016
Sinn Féin MLA Séan Lynch has welcomed an update on the progress of the proposed Enniskillen Library from DCAL Minister Carál Ní Chuilín.
Mr Lynch said:
"I welcome the news from Sinn Féin Minister Ní Chuilín this week that the business case is set to be finalised by next month."
In response to a question tabled in the Assembly this week by Mr Lynch, Ms Ní Chuilín stated:
"Libraries NI is continuing work to develop a draft business case aimed at securing resources for the development of a new and improved public library in Enniskillen. The business case considers a number of options for delivery of library services in Enniskillen ranging from redevelopment on the existing site to potential relocation to an alternative location.
"The business case has now reached an advanced stage and Libraries NI is awaiting receipt of key land and construction data so that it can complete the process. Libraries NI expects to receive this data shortly with a view to finalising the case by March 2016."
Mr Lynch added:
"Libraries play an important role in our communities, not just for lending books, surfing the net, or historical research, to name but a few of the services they provide, but also as meeting places for people who might otherwise be in social isolation.
"Sinn Féin delivered the new library to Lisnaskea last year and I am optimistic that we will also be delivering a new and greatly improved library to Enniskillen."
