Attacks on GAA Club sectarian in nature
Published: 13 September, 2015
Sinn Féin MLA Bronwyn McGahan has condemned an arson attack on Tír na nÓg GAA club in Moy saying she believed it was sectarian in nature.
Ms McGahan said,
"The arson attacks on the Tír na nÓg GAA Club in Moy is a worrying development given a recent similar attack on a club in Auger.
"The GAA has provided a great service to the entire community through the promotion of sport and culture especially in rural communities.
"These attacks are I believe sectarian in nature.
"I am calling on unionist leaders to stand shoulder to shoulder with my party in condemnation of these attacks on GAA clubs.
"There can be no place for sectarianism in our society.
"Unionists need to reach out to the GAA if we are to halt these attacks.
"I will be in contact with the local clubs to ensure they can continue to provide the services which have the GAA have done for over a century."
