Lynch hosting Rural Business Investment Scheme Seminar

Published: 12 August, 2015

Sinn Féin MLA Seán Lynch has invited rural business owners and those interested in starting a business in rural areas to a funding seminar in The Donn Carragh Hotel, Lisnaskea on Thursday 27th August at 6.30pm.

The Fermanagh and South Tyrone MLA said,

"The Rural Business Investment Scheme is scheduled to open for applications in 2015, as part of DARD's Rural Development Programme (2014 - 20.)

"The aim of the scheme is to create and develop non agricultural businesses in rural areas and is an excellent opportunity for people with a business idea or for those who want to grow and develop an established business.

"The fund proposes 50% funding for private businesses and 75% for Social Economy Enterprises, with some support for marketing and bespoke training.

"Although support is available for both existing businesses and new start ups, it is important to note that if an existing business applies, support will only be provided for activities that the business has never carried out previous to applying.

Mr. Lynch continues,

"At this stage the technical document relating to the scheme is under consideration by the European Commission but in preparation for the programme I have arranged a 'Rural Business Seminar' in The Donn Carragh.

"There will be reps there from the Rural Development Council, DARD committee, Chamber of Commerce and the LAG, who will each speak about the different aspects of the application process and the business development phase.

"The key objective of this seminar is to ensure that groups are informed and prepared around what is required and therefore are in with a chance of being in receipt of this much needed funding. Everyone is welcome to the Donn Carragh on 27th August but I ask those interested to RSVP to leannemaguire.sf@gmail.com." ENDS
