Flanagan encourages attendance at Mental Health First Aid Course

Published: 17 July, 2015

Sinn Féin MLA Phil Flanagan is encouraging attendance at Mental Health First Aid training at South West Acute Hospital, Enniskillen on 3rd and 10th September.

Mr. Flanagan said,

"This course is aimed at adults wanting to increase their knowledge and skills in providing initial support for someone with a mental health problem.

"As mental health problems and suicide rates are at a scarily high rate, this course will benefit the entire community.

"The Mental Health First Aid Course being delivered by the Western Health and Social Care Trust will provide the skills required to help a person developing a mental health problem or who is in a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves.

"The course runs over two days, the 3rd to 10th September from 9.30am to 4.30pm. Spaces are limited, so I would encourage sporting clubs, community groups, organisations and all interested parties to book places by contacting health.improvement@westerntrust.hscni.net or Tel: 028 7186 5127. ENDS
