Fermanagh South Tyrone Sinn Féin Sinn Féin -- Building an Ireland of Equals

Cllr Coyle calls for a 'Yes' vote

Sinn Fein Councillor Debbie Coyle has welcomed the Asher's Bakery judgment and has urged all citizens in the South to cast their vote in favour of marriage equality on Friday.

Speaking ahead of Friday's referendum, Cllr Coyle says,

"Sinn Féin has been clear that we're calling for a 'yes' vote. Unfortunately, living in the North, I don't have a vote. But if I did, I would be voting 'yes'. I would vote 'yes' so that people are treated with the respect they deserve. I would 'yes' for Equality.

"Every vote is vital and I urge all those who can vote to exercise that right and vote 'yes' to ensure that everyone, gay or straight is afforded the same dignity, rights and respect.

Equality and Diversity Champion for Fermanagh and Omagh District Council continues,

"Sinn Féin has long been a vocal and political advocate of LGBT rights.

"We have been campaigning vigorously across the 26 counties for marriage equality. Marriage equality is a necessary step on our road towards an Ireland of equals.

"It is my hope now that the result in the Marriage Equality Referendum will be positive and that we see a victory for tolerance, respect and equality." Ends/Críoch
