Cllr Feely calls for polling station awareness

Published: 20 April, 2015

Erne North Councillor John Feely has been in discussions with the Electoral Office in relation to a number of constituents having to drive through Irvinestown to vote in Ballinamallard.

Speaking about the situation Cllr Feely said,

"I find it unacceptable that the residents of Cabragh on the Scallen Road have to travel to Irvinestown - were they traditionally voted - and then a further five miles to Ballinamallard.

"I have been in contact with the Electoral Office to try to sort this out. They have explained that it won't be sorted in time for Michelle's election on May 7th but they will be changing this for the future.

"Unfortunately anyone living in the townland of Cabragh on the Scallen Road will have to travel to Ballinamallard to have their voices heard.

"I would call on people to check their polling cards immediately make sure they are aware of their polling station location, to a avoid any confusion on the day." ENDS
