Sinn Féin Meet with New Brollagh Principal
Published: 16 March, 2015
Sinn Féin representatives Phil Flanagan MLA and Erne North Councillor John Feely recently met with the newly appointed principal of St.Mary's High School, Brollagh, Paul Marks.
Speaking after the meeting, Mr. Flanagan said
"Councillor Feely and I had a very useful meeting with Mr Marks, the newly appointed principal in Brollagh, to discuss the importance of the school to the local area, the progress of the implementation of the cross-border model and to wish him well in his new role.
"It is vitally important that proper consideration is given to the proposed cross-border model put forward by the North West Education Action Group.
"CCMS have recently submitted a draft plan to the Department of Education on developing this cross-border proposal. I intend to involve myself fully in this process and to offer support in whatever way I can to retain post-primary education in this part of Fermanagh in an integrated approach with nearby schools across the border."
The Fermanagh and South Tyrone MLA added,
"I am keen to see the cross-border model put into action soon, as the opportunities it will present to the pupils, the local area and the future of education on this island, are endless.
"It is important that during this time the school has strong guidance and management in place and I think with Mr Marks, aided by the current dedicated staff and Board of Governors, the future of Brollagh is in safe hands." ENDS
