QBRC deal has significant potential - MP Michelle Gildernew

Sinn Féin MP Michelle Gildernew is looking positively upon the sale of two key units of the former Quinn Group to QBRC; Quinn Business Retention Company a local company, which is due to be confirmed on 29th November.

The Fermanagh and South Tyrone MP says,

"This is not only great news to bring to the 650 employees and their families in both the construction industry supply (CIS) division and the packaging division, but also a great boost to the local area.

"This sale agreement of £71 million brings significant economic benefit, prosperous future and a sense of stability and hope to the community, and indeed county, that has suffered in recent times with the collapse of the Quinn Group and the threat of fracking.

"The fact that QBRC is made up of a group of former executives of the Quinn Group and who are local to the area is also encouraging. It not only means that these business personnel are familiar with the company and that the employees are familiar with them but it also supports the local economy - the new consortium is well aware of the challenges of doing business in the region.

"I wish Liam McCaffery and his team every success in the future development of this business and I thank them for recognising the potential in this company and area of the county." END
